About LEED®
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an international green standard of certification created in 1998 by the USGBC
(U.S. Green Building Council), a non-profit organization. LEED® is a certification program for the design, construction and operation of
high performance green buildings. In Canada, the system was adopted in December 2002 by the CaGBC (Canada Green Building Council) tailored
specifically for Canadian climates, construction practices and regulations.
LEED® certification is based on the total point score achieved, following an independent review.
For certain standards, products or construction material can contribute to obtaining these points.
